No doubt you are relating a true story, but the old-timers sensed your attitude and were just pulling your chain. The older guy didn't survive WWII and the younger guy Vietnam (probably) by not haveing any street smarts and being able to read people instantly.

How Did/Has the WTBTS Affected Your Social Skills?
by ABibleStudent ingood or bad?
how did/has the wtbts affected your social skills, social development, and/or how you interact with other people?
i have many questions about different social skills that i will ask either after other people post to this thread or to keep this thread active.

I am anti social, shy, distrusting of other people, never had any friendships because I was prohibited from makng friends at school or in my neighborhood, and the kids in the KH were not interested in me or any other witness kids. The girls all purused worldly boys and the boys all pursued worldly girls. By the time I got to young adulthood, I was so far behind socially, I couldn't catch up. Thats still the case. Now at 50+ years old, I have no friends, no real social skills, and no interests because I grew up not being allowed to do anything. Sound like a good way to live?

Are the Watchtower HQ washing their hands of congregations?
by uk_ex_jw init seems more and more from what i read that if there is problems in congregations (i.e.
paedophilia) the wtbts are washing their hands of any wrongdoing and leaving the congregation and its elder's to carry the can.. is that how it is now?.

Does anybody have any documents (letters to the BOE, etc) that outlines the new approval process and the phasing out of the travelling COs and the direct NY link?

Find out the name and address of a congregation on the opposite side of the country that you live in. Tell the secretary that you are moving there now. Then stop attending. They will mail your publisher record cards to the "new" congregation on the other side of the country. Now they dont have to deal with you. You are the problem of the "new" congregation. The CO doesnt have to be appeased or explained to by the BOE. You just moved away as far as they are concerned.

CO Visits... Are elders honest about the TRUE state of the congregation?
by Alfred inthis question is really for elders or ex-elders (or ministerial servants in the know).... did you find that some elders would tend to "white-wash" the true state of the congregation when they had their sit-down with the co every 6 months?.
did some elders feel pressure to hide certain things from a co for fear of being "removed" from the boe?.
(judging by the "fakeness" that some elders displayed during co visits, i have to wonder whether they were really worried about being removed for not seeking out inactives or encouraging more participation during the wt study, book study or fs...).

The Elders will only reveal things if they think they will be blown out of the water. The problem with the CO's visit for the Elders is that many of the Sisters wait for the CO to visit, and then unload on him while in service, etc. Then during the Friday evening meeting with the Elders, the CO drops these bombs and the inquiries start. For certain Elders, it can all be down-hill from there.

A person needs to be counseled three (3) times on the subject of Apostacy. This is a guideline given to Elders. I sense that this is to limit litigation for acting too fast to disfellowship for Apostacy. Since you have been inactive for so long, I am very surprised. Further direction given to Elders is that when people have been away for so long, to just leave them alone if something comes up, like the Christmas lights. This whole thing is a function of the local BOE. There is probably a new Nazi that has moved in that you are unaware of. I wouldn't attend the meeting, but would send in a certified letter stating that you are aware that they want to meet with you, and you would like to have them identify the subject matter, and provide an agenda for the meeting. once this received, you will consider attendance. The matter should end at this.

Hunting is okay to do if a JW. The support is a scripture where Jacob aske that some wild game be brought to him for a meal.

So what do your Jehovah's Witness friends and loved ones think of the generation teaching?
by garyneal inafter the little skit at the last assembly where one brother was asking another for understanding about the generation teaching i thought, "wow, these people will believe anything the watchtower tells them.
" the 'more mature brother' practically said verbatim everything the watchtower said as his explanation.
evidently, this is one of the sources of the increased 'murmuring' that the talked warned against.. so, has anyone brought this up to their witness friends and/or family?

My Wife is furious about the changes since 1995. She told me recently, "If I wake up one morning after the year 2014 has ended, and if we are still here, and the world is continuing as it is now, I don't know what I will do!". My sister has been active and involved for decades. She isn't aware of the generation changes and doesn't really care. I asked her if she sleeps through the Watchtower studies with her eyes open, or has she had a lobotomy that nobody is aware of? My sister also believes that because of all the not-at-homes and diminished growth, that the Preaching work is over, and the WTS just has to realize it.

The WTS won't be monitarily impacted by the aging of the faithful, except if their donations diminish. The WTS will say that any needs have to be handled first, by their family. So, if you are unprepared for your retirement and aging due to listening to their direction of not going to College, or improving your life enough so you are prepared for the last phase, your relatives can foot the bill and exert the effort. In addition, most were told not to worry about these things since "Armagedddon is right around the corner", oh wait a minute, the WTS never really said that, and you misunderstood what they were saying, Sorry! Once the family avenue has been exhausted, the next in line is the State. They will tell you to collect whatever you are entitled to from the State. Not bad advice I must say. Then after these areas have been totally exploited, the congo assistance will kick in, as responded to by the members that are willing to help. Don't forget to tell the Elders what your needs are!

In my Congo there is an older Brother, with more money than the US Treasury, using an iPad at every meeting he attends. He has been doing this for a long time. One of the Elders is a Bethalite, he gave a local needs talk about a year ago. The Talk siad that the use of these things were "a distraction" to the other members of the Congo. The meaning was "don't bring them to the meeting and use them". At the next meeting, the older Brother had his iPad and used it. He has continued without interruption right up to the present.
